DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY

About the Department:

  • The Department of General Surgery has been providing it professional services from the year 2019.
  • The Department is divided into two Surgical Units. Unit 1st is headed by Professor Dr. Raj Rishi Sharma, who is also Head of Department and Unit 2nd is headed by Dr. Ravinder Kumar (Associate Professor).
  • Here, immense emphasis is laid not only on enhancement of patient care but also on the quality of academic activities and training program.
  • OPD, Emergency and OT days are divided amongst the two units.
  • In door facilities are available at Surgical Ward 2 and 3 with a sum total of 48 beds which are extended with the addition of extra beds to accommodate the load from On-Call days.
  • OPD services are provided at the Room No. 16, G.M.C Kathua, which runs 6 days a week with approximately 100-150 patients seen each day.
  • The Department has been allocated 2 Operation Theatres, where an estimated 150(approx.) elective and emergency cases are dealt with each month.
  • Unit 1 includes Dr. Raj Rishi Sharma (Professor & Head), Dr. Ranjeet Rathore (Assistant Professor), Dr. Manmeet Kour (Assistant Professor), Dr. Anil Gupta (Consultant Surgeon) which have OPD on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and major Surgeries on Tuesdays and minor surgeries on Saturdays.
  • Unit 2 includes Dr. Ravinder Kumar (Associate Professor and Head SU II), Dr. Hilal A. Wani (Assistant Professor), Dr. Anshuman (Assistant Professor), which have OPD on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and operate major surgeries one on Wednesday and minor surgeries on Friday. .
  • Every Morning at 10:00 AM sharp and also at Afternoon, Round is conducted in the ward by both Units.
